Jonathan 'Jonny' Bowling

Community Christian School played such a significant role in my youth that it is impossible to separate it from my childhood.  I began attending CCS in 1992, in preschool with Mrs. Wilson, and graduated from 8th grade in 2003.  I remember digging out a tractor tire from our playground area in 1st grade with Mrs. Schoolfield, writing superhero stories in 4th grade with Mrs. Ackerman, and, of course, attending Space Camp with Mrs. Thon in 5th grade.  In middle school, I played Benny Southstreet and performed the Crapshooter's Dance in the 2002 musical 'Guys and Dolls,' studied history with Mr. Collier, and traveled to Washington, DC, for our 8th grade class trip.  So many wonderful memories that I treasure today.

I attended Lincoln HS and moved to California for college in 2007. I completed my BFA in Character Animation from the Academy of Art University. After graduating, I became a puzzle designer and Assistant Manager at SCRAP Entertainment's Real Escape Game in San Francisco's Japantown. Currently, I am a freelance Live Sketch artist in the San Francisco Bay Area and teach art to students in person and remotely across the nation.

If I wanted a child to receive an education centered on Christ and His love for us, I would send that child to CCS. The small classes and Christian foundation help students feel comfortable as they grow. This school is where I first asked whether God was real, and eventually I discovered that He not only was real but also loved me immensely. This simple truth helped me build a strong foundation, giving me the courage to pursue the gifts God had given me in art. I know I would not be where I am today without that foundation.

I am so excited to see CCS turn 50 years old in 2028!
